In the U. S. , California is often linked with the film, music, and arts industries ; there are many internationally renowned Californian musicians. Hardcore punk, hip-hop, country and heavy metal have all appeared in California. Similarly , new categories of music ,eg 3rd wave ska, have their origins in California.

Over the year California plays host to several Music Events Bollywood pop, Chilean rap, Celtic jam sessions and Congolese Trance Dance-tronica may be sounds from other ends of the planet. Yet in the bright southern California area all these acts are presented to the public, and most are free. With such a giant spread of musical events hosted in such a chilled atmosphere, any person could find an act or 3 to concern them. The California Conventional Music Society presents Jam Sessions at the Center for hippy music in Encino for free to the public.

Visitors are inspired to bring their own guitar, fiddle, banjo or other stringed instrument to take part on the jam sessions. Guests can also chill out and just enjoy the show. Sessions are held each Sun. each month of the year. The schedule of monthly events contains the Old Time Jam held on the 1st Sun. , the People Song Jam on the second Sun.

The Celtic Session is held on the 3rd Sun. and the Bluegrass Jam on the 4th Sun. . The Twilight Dance Series has been held at the Santa Monica Pier since 1984 providing musical entertainment to the general public absolutely free. The event is held each Thursday in the summer months from seven p.m to ten p.m. Transport to the pier is free for bicyclists and is inspired.

Take your blanket or lawn lounger and make yourself comfy as you like musical acts from all around the globe. In 2010 performers included bands from Chile, Italy and Australia in genres from pop to jazz to Bollywood music. Mick Taylor, a previous member of the popular rock and roll band the Rolling Stones, was even booked to perform. Watch live performances of classical chamber music in L. A. .Beginning 1948, Sundays Live hosts each concert live over the radio, and is the longest running music broadcast in LA. Each Sun. beginning at six p.m, Sundays Live presents free entertainment to the general public with premier pro musicians that are from southern California as well as all across the globe. Concerts usually last for sixty minutes and this event happens each week across the year. Sundays Live is held at the Leo S. Bing Theater found in the L.A.County Museum of Art.
